I am an undergraduate student studying Sustainable Plant Systems with an emphasis in Agronomy. I am excited about the potential of genetic modification in the context of ensuring food security in the coming years. Currently, I work with Matthew Alcaraz in developing a biocontainment system for genetically engineered plants. I have been passionate about plants since I was a kid, tending to gardens and modifying them to try and get the largest yield I could. It is thrilling to see what goes on behind the scenes to make the plants that I grow and use to feed myself and my family. Outside of the lab, I mend and modify clothes, read books (particularly the classics), and program applications.
